ガラスのお抹茶碗

薄暗い茶室に、一筋の光が差し込む。

その光を静かに受け止める器を目指して制作しています。

ガラスの茶碗は、茶の湯の歴史の中には存在しませんでした。もし戦国の世にガラスのお茶碗があったなら、

武将たちはどのように眺め、どのように手にしただろう──

そんな想像を重ねながら、一碗一碗を形にしています。

色彩は、抹茶の鮮やかな緑が注がれたときに美しく響き合うよう、一つひとつ選んでいます。

私はお抹茶椀を作るのがとても好き。

Glass Matcha Bowls

A single ray of light enters the dimly lit tea room.
I create these bowls with the hope that they will quietly receive and hold that light.

Glass bowls have never been part of the traditional history of the Japanese tea ceremony. I often imagine what it might have been like if glass matcha bowls had existed during the age of the samurai—how the warriors of that time might have looked at them, and how they might have held them in their hands. With these thoughts in mind, I create each bowl individually.

I choose each color carefully, imagining how it will harmonize with the vivid green of matcha.

I truly love making matcha bowls.
